In this latest edition of the Celebrity Superfan Interview, bamma.com sat down with British actress Nichola Burley, star of Donkey Punch, Downton Abbey and most recently BBC drama The Rack Pack. First up, we asked Nichola what it was like attending a BAMMA event for the first time.
My first experience of MMA was BAMMA at the Birmingham Arena, and I was taken aback by the intense atmosphere and the vigorous strength and attitude of the sport.
Did any of the fighters make an instant fan of you?
I remember watching Brett 'The Spartan' McDemott and Marc 'Bonecrusher' Diakiese who both blew me away!
Diakiese was crazy energetic and I remember Brett's presence - he was huge! They both had me gripped, plus they won!
How did you find watching the MMA bouts live and in person for the first time?
I generally look forward to and despise watching all of the fights. The minute they start I want to look away and run home and equally I cannot take my eyes off them. I tend to want the loser to win and feel sorry for whoever loses.
So aside from attending the upcoming BAMMA 34: Lohore Vs. Brazier event, what new projects have you been working on?
I have just wrapped on a film called BITE. A physcological thriller. I'm in the mix of co-writing a film which I will star in and my next film is top secret!
We want to thank Nichola for her time and make sure you say hello if you see her at the SSE Arena, Wembley at BAMMA 34 on March 9th. You will also be able to catch BITE at cinemas soon.
