[London 21.03.17] The Lightweight Lonsdale title bout has been added to the BAMMA 29: McDermott Vs. Wolf line up. Newly crowned Lonsdale Lightweight Champion Tim Barnett defends his title against Mario ‘Rudeboy’ Saeed.
"For every fighter, there’s always a cause that’s worth fighting for whether physically or emotionally. BAMMA 29 Title fights are all about redemption and payback. Mario’s patience has paid off and is getting his wish to fight for the Lonsdale title, that was won in emphatic style by the quiet but deadly man of the division. The deadly, Tim Barnett. This portion of the card is going to be explosive..." - Jude Samuel BAMMA Matchmaker
Tim Barnett shocked Belfast when he stopped Rhys ’Skeletor’ McKee in his tracks during their Lonsdale title fight at BAMMA 28 with a ferocious TKO. The undefeated Liverpudlian immediately requested a title defence at the soonest opportunity and Mario Saeed was the first to step up to the challenge. With both fighters sporting an all action and go forward style of fighting, the crowd in attendance can expect neither fighter to take a backwards step as they go in search of Lonsdale glory.
"Instincts are something that are impossible to train, and I have them in abundance that's why I've finished every fight. If you show any weakness in any area be that the look in your eyes, the body language, the breath I'll spot it and that’s when I'll walk forward Mario and take the finish." - Tim Barnett
"Can't wait to fight for the BAMMA Lonsdale Title. Something I've been aiming for a long time. I'm feeling in the best shape physically and mentally, ready to collect another arm or punch his lights out. Whatever it takes that belt is mine. Big thanks to family, friends, training partners, Trojan Free Fighters, Gracie Barra Bath and Spiked Athletics for all their continued support. Lots of love. The 155 lb champ. Don't blink.” - Mario ‘Rudeboy’ Saeed
Tim Barnett (4-0) The Liverpudlian shocked the Belfast crowd in attendance at BAMMA 28: Parke Vs Redmond, when he stepped in on late notice and dethroned reigning champ Rhys ‘Skeletor’ McKee in front of his crowd. Out of the MMA Academy Liverpool under the watchful eye of Mike Wootten and Jason Tan, Barnett goes from strength to strength in each and every fight he competes in. Making both his amatuer and pro debuts under the BAMMA banner, the recently signed Barnett plans on holding the title for a long while to come.
Mario Saeed (9-3) now gets the title shot that he has been calling for since joining BAMMA. Known for his loud and vocal antics, the proud Kurdish fighter is no stranger to controversy both in and out of the cage. In his BAMMA debut against Myles Price in Dublin, he managed to get himself into a fracas at the weigh in that ended with the scales getting destroyed. The build up to his fights are as entertaining as the Trojan Free Fighter’s style, and Saeed see’s Barnett as a stepping stone to his ultimate goal, the BAMMA World Title.
Barnett Vs. Saeed will collide in Birmingham on May 12th. Tickets for BAMMA 29: McDermott Vs. Wolf are on sale now from TheTicketFactory.com and the vent will broadcast Live on TV in the UK. The Prelims will also stream Live and worldwide via UNILAD Facebook page.
